Automated Ultrasonic Testing (AUT) or corrosion mapping (C-Scan) is a fully automated ultrasonic inspection technique that utilizes a multichannel ultrasonic imaging system and encoded robotic scanners to provide details on material degradation such as erosion, corrosion, hydrogen blisters, hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC), and related interlinking cracking.
KEY APPLICATIONS
- Corrosion mapping and flaw detection on tank shells and roofs, spheres, and vessels
- Corrosion mapping and flaw detection on piping down to 4”
- External in lieu of internal inspections
- Difficult to access locations down to 3” of clearance
