HMT’s Supplemental Lightning Protection System for geodesic domes serves to enhance the already-protective Faraday properties that are inherent to geodesic dome structures. The system reduces the potential of a direct lightning strike by delaying the formation of streamers on the protected structure. In the unlikely event of a lightning strike, the system directs the flow of electrical charge to the tank shell and safely to ground.
