Quick Draw Bottom Sumps/Drain Dry Sumps

HMT’s Quick Draw Bottom Sump considerably increases tank capacity, enabling tank owners to maximize the operation of their tankage. Increasing the usable capacity of a storage tank increases its operating efficiency, allowing owners to maintain competitiveness and profitability.

HMT’s Quick Draw Bottom Sump has many applications. When used with Internal Floating Roofs, the “low” roof position can be reduced considerably. A typical low leg height for a floating roof is 3’6”. HMT’s Quick Draw Bottom Sump allows this height to be reduced to approximately 6”, greatly increasing the usable tank capacity, as well as reducing product inventory.

Each Quick Draw Bottom Sump is custom designed for the specific operational needs of the tank. All tank inlet and outlet connections, mixing devices and water draw-off connections are located beneath the level of the tank bottom. Piping is provided under the tank bottom to the exterior of the tank where it can be tied into the applicable lines. HMT’s Quick Draw Bottom Sump can be installed in new tanks or in tank retrofits and in single wall construction or double wall for use with double bottom tanks. The unique sump design allows for rapid filling and emptying and, in cases of eccentrically sloped bottoms, provides a “drain dry” feature.

Advanced Features:

  • "Low" roof position can be reduced to approximately 6" increasing usable tank capacity.

  • Rapid filling and emptying of tanks, and in cases of eccentrically sloped bottoms, provides a drain dry feature.

  • HMT Quick Draw Bottom Sump can be installed in both single and double bottom tanks.

  • The cost savings in additional capacity, improved operating efficiencies and inventory reduction is considerably greater than the initial system installation cost.
