Secondary Containment System

HMT's Envirogaurd family of  secondary containment liners are specifically designed to meet the unique demands of aboveground storage tank and tank dike applications.  Physical strength and puncture resistance, combined with excellent chemical resistance, makes them an ideal liner that will withstand the rigors of construction and are suitable for long term exposure to most petroleum products.

Envirogaurd liners are made from engineered fabrics specifically designed for petroleum and chemical containment.  Liners are fabricated into custom panels, under stringent quality control procedures, and are available urethane and polymer coated fabrics, as ell as two distinct types of PTFE urethane and polymer coated fabrics as well as two distinct types of PTFE (Teflon) materials.  The Petrolam series (laminated fiberglass PTFE fabric) was developed exclusively for HMT and has been used extensively in other aboveground storage tank applications for many years.  The Envirogaurd LFP series (solid PTFE sheeting) offers great flexibility combined with exceptional structural strength.  This broad range of material offers resistance to virtually any product, operating condition or temperature.

HMT can factory fabricate custom panels (roll goods) in varying sizes and shapes to meet all field installation requirements.  Stock materials can be engineered, custom fabricated, packaged and prepared for shipment within 48 hours.   Due to this custom fabrication capability, we are able to greatly reduce field installation times.

Enviroguard Polyurethane Liners

The Enviroguard Polyurethane series of liners are flexible liner materials made with high strength woven geotextile and coated with the highest quality, specially formulated, fuel resistant polyurethane available today.  The resultant Enviroguard liners  can vary in thickness from 28 to 75 mil and can have over 55 oz. of urethane coating.  Some of these urethane materials are UL approved.

Enviroguard 4 & 5 Polymer Coated Liners

Eviroguard Polymer Coated Liners are flexible membrane liner material consisting of a high strength polyester geotextile that is coated with specially formulated ethlylene inter-polymer alloy.  Enviroguard 5 is 40 mil thick weighs 38 ounces per square yard.  Both liners offer impressive dimensional stability, puncture resistance and tensile strength.

Envirguard PTFE (TeflonŽ) Liners

The Enviroguard PTFE series of liners (Petrolam and LFP) represent state-of-the-art flouropolymer made by proprietary processes from PTFE (TeflonŽ) resins.  These materials provide universal performance and compatibility to all chemicals and fuels found throughout the petrochemical industry.  These liners are available in 7 mil through 100 mil thickness.

Enviroguard Petrolam was developed exclusively for and in conjunction with HMT.  The general construction of the composite has a backbone of flouropolymer coated fiberglass fabric "sandwiched" between high performance thin film cast flouropolymer films.

Enviroguard LFP was designed to provide greater flexibility and material toughness.  The resultant liners offer higher strength and toughness characteristics than conventional flouropolymer sheet materials, the option of reinforced or non-reinforced materials for greater chemical resistance and outstanding compatibility at elevated temperatures.

Enviroguard Thin Film Series (EX, 10, Canvex & SB)

Three layered, CO-extruded, Enviroguard EX series liners are available in 20 and 30 mil thickness and consist of outer layers of the highest quality high density polyethylene with an inner layer of very low density polyethylene which offers the highest combination of chemical resistance and flexibility for the most severe applications.

Mono-layer blended Enviroguard 10 series membranes consist of medium density polyethylene manufactured from virgin and select reprocessed resins.  These are designed to provide a high quality economical geomembrane that offers good chemical and ultraviolet (UV) resistance.  Liners are available in 6, 10, 20 and 30 mil thickness.

Tightly woven Enviroguard Canvex membranes are exceptionally tear resistant compared to their thickness. Canvex is a very flexible geosynthetic with a woven construction allowing it to easily conform to difficult shapes.  Its high physical strength enables Enviroguard Canvex to out perform non-woven products over twice its thickness.  It is available in both high or low density coatings and 12 or 20 mil thickness.

The Enviroguard SB series membranes are manufactured using a polyethyiene extrusion lamination process to provide the ultimate bond by  locking in the inner scrim reinforcement.  This results in lightweight construction engineered to perform as a temporary cover or liner in the most demanding conditions.  The Enviroguard SB Series is manufactured in 6 through 12 mil thickness.

Factory Fabrication:

  • Individual liner panels are factory fabricated under stringent quality control procedures into custom panel widths for ease of field installations, while minimizing field seams.  All factory joins are seamed using thermal automatic high pressure welding equipment.

  • Factory fabricated panels are provided in accordance with the installation drawings and are numbered for ease of installation.  quality Control documents verifying seam integrity and material specifications are provided to the owner's representative.

Installation:

  • Our Installation technicians can provide any degree of technical installation support needed from field supervision to complete turn-key installation.

  • Installation of factory fabricated panels should be performed by a factory approved contractor or under the direction of a factory representative.  All liners come complete with installation drawings.

  • No longer are field seams the weak link in the liner system.  Field seams are consistent and reliable due to the weight of the material which provides an ideal window of  weld ability in all potential installation conditions.  Field seams are thermally welded and are 100% non-destructively tested by either high frequency spark test or vacuum test.  Generally accepted testing procedures apply.  construction and as-built drawings are provided.

Accessories:

  • Liner systems are available with either adhesive or mechanical perimeter attachment as well as leak detection and monitoring systems.

  • Liner packages are tailored to the clients needs, job specific requirements, and site conditions.

  • Additional liner design, drawings, material specifications and installation details are available.
