Pivot Master Fire Foam Delivery Systems

HMT’s Pivot Master Fire Fighting Foam Delivery Systems are designed to rapidly snuff out floating roof tank rim fires. These Systems deliver the fire fighting foam directly to the floating roof rim space where it effectively blankets the stored product  Surface, cutting off the fire’s oxygen supply and snuffing out the fire with a minimum amount of foam.

Unlike subsurface and over-the-shell foam delivery methods, the HMT Foam Delivery Systems are designed to place the foam where it is needed—in the floating roof rim space—directly on the stored product. As a result, with no foam dams to fill, far less foam is required, and the response time is greatly reduced. This rapid response time helps prevent “hot zones” from developing, making it easier to extinguish the fire.

HMT offers both the Pivot Master Dedicated Foam Delivery System, and the Pivot Master Dual Purpose Roof Drain/Foam Delivery System.

  • The Pivot Master Dedicated Foam Delivery System is used where separate, independent Roof Drain Systems and Foam Delivery Systems are required.

  • The Dual Purpose System is used where the Roof Drain System is used to serve a dual role; that of draining rainwater off the floating roof and also to transport fire fighting foam to the floating roof rim space.

The HMT Pivot Master Fire Fighting Foam Delivery Systems are considerably more cost effective than other types of foam systems. Since straight radial piping into the rim space is used from the center collection manifold, no rolled piping or piping elbows are required. Also, the need for a foam dam is eliminated. Easy to install and maintain, this system eliminates the need for the construction and installation of multiple foam makers, foam dams, additional external piping and roof top wing railings.

Advantages of the HMT Pivot Master Fire Fighting Foam Delivery Systems

  • Fast Response Time

  • Maintenance Free Operation

  • Incorporates Use of Pivot Master Flexible Joints

  • Low Initial Costs

  • Ease of Installation

HMT Pivot Master Fire Fighting Foam Delivery Systems include:

  • Dike to Tank: Piping extending from a single PHB high back pressure foam maker permanently mounted on or outside the tank dike to the tank shell nozzle. This shell nozzle is the foam inlet for the Dedicated Foam Delivery System and the roof drain outlet for the Dual Purpose System. The Dual Purpose System also includes a three-port two-way valve mounted on the drain outlet.

  • Tank to Floating Roof: Pivot Master Flexible Piping System connecting the shell nozzle inner extension to a Collection Manifold located near the center of the floating roof. The Dual Purpose System also includes a check valve mounted on the floating roof.

  • Floating Roof to Rim Space: Manifold piping to transport the foam from the Collection Manifold into the rim space at various locations around the circumference of the floating roof. This piping is sloped for positive drainage through the system and is layed out in a radial array network for uniform foam distribution in the rim space.
